I have a 34 yo actress friend who started dating a 34 yo Wall Street buddy. During the first 3 dates he told her how interested he was in having a relationship and how fascinating he thought she was. So since she was into his act she hooked up with him expecting this could develop into something serious. Two days after they got intimate she randomly sees him walking on Lexington Avenue hand in hand with another women. She called him immediately to say that she was very upset to see him with another woman because she felt that their intimacy implied some sort of monogamous commitment.
He said that he felt that she was very special but that since they didn't have "the talk" about being exclusive there's nothing wrong with him seeing other women. In fact he felt that it takes at least 3 months of "dating" before he even decides to have "the talk." So my question is does "intimacy imply monogamy" or do couples have to have "the talk?”
